Our class books this term have been 'Oliver's vegetables and The Royal Dinner' After half term we will be reading 'Cool Food'. The children have developed their speaking and listening by taking part in various role plays. We have placed a strong emphasis on developing the children's reading accuracy, fluency and comprehension.. The children will also develop their own recipes linking Literacy to our Topic Food.
In Mathematics, the children have continued to develop their understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We have also looked at time (both analogue and digital). Other aspects of mathematics have included word problems on Money. Where possible a strong emphasis has been placed on supporting children with learning their number bonds, halving and doubling.
In Science, linking to our topic 'Food' we have been looking at how the digestive system works and its parts, food nutrients and their functions later on we will focus on healthy eating, food allergies, food poisoning and also food related diseases,.
Linking Art to the topic Food the children in Nawimbe have been creating pictures and patterns from food and seeds.
We have been doing Hockey during our P.E lessons and the children love it. In Swimming we have been focusing on co-ordination in the pool, floating on back and front while swimming across the pool with lots of confidence.
