Our class books this term have been 'Mrs Armitage on Wheels' and 'The Twits.' After half term we will be reading 'Nelson Mandela and his struggle to freedom'. The children have developed their speaking and listening by taking part in various role plays. We have placed a strong emphasis on developing the children's reading accuracy, fluency and comprehension. We have also encouraged the sounding out of difficult words to help children read fluently.
In Mathematics, the children have continued to develop their understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We have also looked at time (both analogue and digital). Other aspects of mathematics have included fractions and shapes. Where possible a strong emphasis has been placed on supporting children with learning their number bonds and times tables.
In Science, linking to our topic 'people who made a difference'. We have been looking at famous scientists and their inventions. Amongst them we looked at Alexander Graham Bell who invented phones.
The children in Nawimbe Class love Art! This term we have been looking at Earth creations; this involved looking at rock painting, sculptures, weaving among other activities. On Design and Technology day the children enjoyed sharing information about cars and their uses, later they designed and made their own cars.
We have been doing Athletics, Gymnastics and Dance as part of our Physical Education this term. On Sports Day, Nawimbe children were amazing with their sprinting, egg and spoon racing and balancing!
